I'm begging you to have your local home Depot rip a sheet of masonite down to the right size for these! perfectly smooth painting surface and totally reusable, about $15 for a 4x8 ft sheet

Not my style. But you should maybe try this in Balsa wood, it’s very thin and would stick with the tape, but you won’t get that cardboard effect & you could paint the back something different and switch it out 🙂

Guys she likely started with cardboard because its what she had and she didn’t know if she would like it. If she wants a more permanent solution she’ll redo it on wood or even paint directly on the risers 🤦🏻♀️
