U need to go to settings and turn off “attention aware feature”. Apple dims the brightness and lowers sound when you do not look at your phone if you have this on!

Lol that happened to me once so i set an alarm for the next minute to see if it was silent or not. I also always set like 5+ alarms to wake up 😭

if you sleep with your phone screen down it sometimes turns it off, same with if it’s pointing at your face im pretty sure
