my dad has owned a roofing business for 30+ years and I've work with him since 16yrs old (im 35) interesting way of preparing, I approve, good job man keep up the good work, and everyone has critics and their own way of doing things

I roofed houses for 20 something years. And I never, ever did that.
I would cut as I went.And most of the time, I didn't run a forty five.I went a three line bon line straight up the roof edge 10 and 1212 and 12 and didn't matter. And when we got done our roofs were spectacular, a lot less cutting than wearing my wrist out. And didn't have a lot to cleanup when we got done lot less waste and a lot quicker

pros use starter strip or rolls not that cut off the back of a shingle that has no adhesive on it. also shingles should over hang drip edge

that bottom row..could you have just without cutting lengthwise, use the whole shingle and cut some more time off🤨..just asking
