I massively recommend using the Obsidian MCP. This will allow Claude to properly interact with your Obsidian notes via MCP Tools that Obsidian has inside of its MCP.

What you're describing is a Markdown Wiki with backlinks. Claude Code already reads local files natively so you just put Markdown files into a folder with a routing index and that's it. Obsidian's value is in its GUI for humans. AI doesn't need a graph view; it needs file paths. Adding a tool between the model and your files is unnecessary complexity. You're doing your job wrong.

Pro tip -> when your vault gets big enough, you can set up a mcp so claude and codex and gemini can search through you vault semanticly -> also you can get a lokal ai (I use QWEN 3.5 27B Q4) that runs through ollama in your vault, witch also search’s semanticly through your vault.

I use a main brain md then every project gets it own full md of each project then the main brain only gets a few words as a reference then it will pull the relevant md file based on project 👍
