Personally, I think it looks better on the top. it brings the red up instead of down clashing with the crib. It follows the same direction as the bottom of the crib and it doesn't clash with the circles you put around the frame and the lamp. But as long as you're happy, that's all that matters

I think putting them at the top of the wall looked much better. it would match the direction of the scallops along the bottom of the crib and dresser.
