I have raging ADHD. Diagnosed at 46. Employed full time. 2 teenagers. Please help me find some books to read that I can get through without putting down for a month or two. Thank you!

I, Who Have Never Known Men, was my first read of 2026, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it, nor do I think I ever will. Fantastic read! And I’m not typically into dystopian. And then I read Ella Minnow Pea, which I thought was so delightful and clever and thoughtful, and even pertinent to what’s going on in the U.S. today. I’d honestly rank both of those as five to six-star reads. Both super short, and excellent.

I who have never know man - I read that ages ago - picked it up randomly in an airport book store because I wasn’t interested in th books I had with me (this was before kindle or digital books!) and it still comes up in my brain. Whats funny about it was I read it and passed it on, and then could not find it for like a decade after I first read it. Yeh. It still lives rent free in my brain.

A short stay in hell I had high expectations for, so when I was reading it I felt like I was disappointed, but it’s stuck around and lingered in my head for years now, and the more I think about it- the more I love it. It is phenomenal.

I’m pretty sure you recommended I Who Have Never Known Men a bit over a year ago. I went out and bought it on your rec, and to this day I think about it so regularly. It’s divine. A true exploration into what makes us who we are, I think. It’s on the list to read again.

Interestingly, when I first read of ‘A short stay in hell’ I ended up hating it; I was reading it thinking there would be some resolve at the end, and was so disappointed. But it stayed with me after. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I went back and read it again, and it was an incredible experience. Possibly one of my favourite books, and now I am always recommending it.

Have you read Claire Keegan’s short story collection So Late in the Day? Small Things Like These is one of my top three favorite books of all time. As much as I love that one, that’s how much I hated So Late in the Day 😂 I hated it for the content. Her writing was excellent as always.
