On October 28, 2024, the body of 35-year-old Linda Campitelli was found along the side of a road. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt-force trauma to the head and torso. After analyzing cellphone records, GPS data, license plate reader hits, and surveillance video, investigators arrested Rene Perez on March 11, 2026. Police say Campitelli had been communicating with Perez through WhatsApp, including plans to meet the day she died. Perez told investigators he was at work that night, but police say GPS records contradict that claim. Detectives also say he later tried to cover his tracks by buying a new phone and deleting messages with Campitelli. Perez is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. #truecrime
