@boredwithbooks: Thank you to @Macmillan Audio for the free advanced listeners copy (ALC) of Wolf Worm by T. Kingfisher to review prior to publication on March 24. I highly recommend people read this one but MY GOD… the bugs. I personally love the almost poetic vibes of a gothic horror mostly because it adds a layer of beauty to the horror when it’s done well - which this book/author does VERY well in my opinion. I think throughout the book you can always sense there is something more than you’re being told but it’s just waiting to find out what that is … I promise you won’t guess it … but try your best and I’ll hold your hand through it. Yes there are lots of bugs… but they aren’t all gross bugs. I think Kingfisher clearly understands much of the beauty in nature (yes, even its “icky” creatures) which really shines through in her writing. Despite me hating bugs I could definitely appreciate some of their beauty in this books (you’ll get what I mean when you read it… some bugs more than others tho). I thought this was a fantastic book to experience in audio format but it would also be great in print (I’m going to buy a copy for my shelf and read it again).
