This is a LIMB EMERGENCY, and without proper attention, the patient can lose the affected limb. So, it isn't something to take lightly. Acute limb ischemia is a sudden decrease in perfusion that presents with clinical signs indicating a threat to the limb itself. It can occur from arterial thrombosis (from procedures or native arterial issues), embolism, or arterial injury (trauma or iatrogenic). Clinical manifestations include the 6 Ps: 🩸Pain: Distal to the occlusion and progressing in severity. Eventually, pain may decrease if ischemia has resulted in sensory loss. 🩸Pallor: The color can range from pale/pallor and progress to cyanotic or mottled. 🩸Pulslessness: Decreased or absent; delayed capillary refill 🩸 Paresthesias initially, but progresses to... 🩸 Paralysis once there is damage to sensory/motor function 🩸Poikilothermic: Extremity will be cool or cold
