Ok I interviewed at 22 programs and didn’t match and had to SOAP. Total fluke. To this day my husband wonders if I fucked up submitting my rank list 😂 it’s all good though I graduate from gen surg this June. The nightmare eventually ends

As a non-medical person who only knows vague details about the match process from what I've seen on American tv shows and some social media accounts, I'm fascinated by both the horror it seems to inflict on the participants and the veil of rules and secrecy that appear to surround the entire system (again, likely because I've only seen the Hollywood versions, played out for dramatic or comedic effect). Has anyone ever done a documentary on it? Would be intrigued to learn how it all works. In the meantime, I send all kinds of empathy vibes to everyone who's forced to get through it on as a crucial part of their career and life path. Sounds like whoever runs the match should do a partnership with Tums or Mylanta or Xanax or some other stress-management product/pharmaceutical.
