Today reminded me that self-care isn’t a luxury… it’s stewardship. I was up by 7:30 this morning, taking care of the things that needed to be done around the house. As a nurse, I know that on the days I work 12-hour shifts, home life often has to wait. So on my days off, I’m usually catching up. But after everything was done, I made a decision. I chose me. I went and got a massage—not because I had nothing else to do, but because I understand that I can’t continue pouring into everyone else while constantly neglecting myself. Rest isn’t laziness. Recovery isn’t weakness. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is slow down long enough to let your mind, body, and spirit breathe. God never intended for us to live in a constant state of exhaustion. Even Jesus stepped away to rest. So if you’ve been running on empty, consider this your reminder: take care of yourself too. You deserve moments of peace. You deserve time to recharge. And the people you love deserve the healthiest version of you.
