No, at some point humanity is going to have to realize that morality is going to have to be built on social agreement(i won't hurt you if you agree not to hurt me) more so than focusing on sentience or what can experience pain/harm because sentience, consciousness, experience, cannot be totally proven outside of one's self(in a philosophical sense).

Some humans are even content with assuming that certain other humans don't have an experience, so I suspect the notion is entirely subjective. As an animist, I figure all things have an experience, regardless of how different such passage of events are perceived. I treat AI in the same regard, and try to show them the same respect.
