@in.good.hands.collective: Most babies show small movement preferences at times — that’s normal! But when asymmetrical movement patterns persist and don’t resolve with practice, it’s worth looking into. Earlier support can make it easier to correct. Examples to watch for: • Dragging one leg when crawling • Always rolling the same direction • Reaching with one arm much more than the other • A persistent head tilt or always looking one way • One side of the body seeming stronger or more coordinated Some causes: • Torticollis or tight neck muscles • Birth positioning or birth trauma • Container overuse (swings, seats, bouncers) • Head turning preference • Flat spots (plagiocephaly) • Uneven muscle strength or tone • Primitive reflexes stronger on one side • Limited tummy time/floor play • Visual preference to one side • Shoulder, trunk, or hip tightness • Sensory or vestibular differences • Pain or discomfort (ex: reflux) When in doubt, ask for a therapy referral to get a full assessment done and put your mind to rest! #babydevelopment #therapytips

My baby is three months old and have one favorite side (but still sees to each side). He’s still not symmetrical while trying to catch toys and so, and also he’s barely starting to turn to one side (he’s favorite side). But it’s to early to be complete symmetrical while trying to catch toys, right? And should he be trying to turn to both sides already - or is it ok that he’s trying to roll to one side first?

I know you can't diagnose. but my baby is an FGR baby born 37 weeks but was in the 2nd percentile. she is now 10 weeks and rarely coos and is struggling/uninterested with lifting her head. even though I am really trying to focus all my energy on her tummy time. should I be concerned? also seemes uninterested in grasping things when placed on her chest. am I overanalyzing everything?
