Tbh I was moreso upset and i think most of the fanbase was upset that Finn was built up as the possible hero in Ep 7, had his heroic sacrifice ruined by rose in Ep 8, then a side character in Ep 9

Mind you though, that both Mace and Lando are incredibly fleshed out characters in the extended universe…And yes people in the Star Wars fandom do take the comics and the books seriously. Disney did Axe most of the EU, but it’s always been important to the fandom up until then. So these white people really did pay attention to the EU, grew up with it, to STILL be racist about a black man being in the sequels.
