@deetee0011: Australians are paying around $2.30 per litre for petrol, yet the government takes about 48 cents per litre in fuel excise and then adds GST on top—after we’ve already paid tax on our income. Add tolls, registration and insurance, all with government charges built in, and motorists are paying massive amounts just to use the roads. Now they’re proposing a per-kilometre road tax as well, despite roads often being poorly maintained with the funds already collected. It’s time for a serious overhaul of the system.
