@itsospooky: The Bonneville Salt Flats That Disappear and Rebuild Themselves The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah look like a permanent white desert, but after heavy storms the entire landscape can flood and turn into a giant mirror stretching for miles. When the water evaporates, salt carried upward from underground crystallizes again, slowly rebuilding the famous salt crust. These flats are the remains of ancient Lake Bonneville, a prehistoric lake once larger than Lake Michigan. Even today the surface is constantly changing as salt dissolves, rises, and reforms across the desert floor. #bonneville #utah #geology #nature #DidYouKnow
