@deepwreckdiver: A deadly trap off the north Cornish coast destroyed the German submarine German submarine U-1021 in March 1945. She sailed with a crew of around 49 men, many of them young sailors sent to sea in the final months of the war. What they did not know was that Allied intelligence, helped by Enigma decrypts, often revealed where German submarines were likely to patrol. Across those routes the Allies laid deep water minefields in the western approaches. These were designed specifically to catch submarines running deep to avoid aircraft and radar. Somewhere inside that hidden barrier, U-1021 struck a mine and was destroyed. There were no survivors. Another reminder of how deadly the Atlantic had become for the last generation of U-boat crews. #WW2 #Uboat #Shipwreck #BattleOfTheAtlantic
Obsolete? Most of the equipment they had was much better than what the other contries had. If AH had not gone for Russia. Europe had been different today.
