@jessicavanel: Sorry, dude, but we can’t exactly replace an ENTIRE BED in the middle of the night. 😅 #skit #hotel #talesfromthefrontdesk #frontdesklife

I recently stayed in a hotel and got sick in the middle of the night all over the bed. I took off the sheets, comforter, and mattress pad, washed everything in the bathroom, cleaned the floor, then went downstairs to let the front desk know to extend my apologies to the housekeeper that would be taking care of my room in the morning. I slept on towels covering the bed, and left the housekeeper a huge tip when I checked out.

I agree to everything but putting the sheets in the corner. Have security bring a garbage bag and bring the bag down to housekeeping or wherever.

Happened to us. They just told us to put the sheets outside the door. Didn’t need a new mattress because they used a mattress protector. Seems silly that a hotel wouldn’t.

It’s better than my hotel. The guest would’ve had to come down to get the linens.

I would never think housekeeping would clean that up. I would be asking for cleaning supplies to be sent up!

my kid literally did this at a DISNEY resort. They brought extra towels, sheets, blankets, etc. We got things situated until morning, then they helped us make sure the bed was properly cleaned the next day.

I stayed in a lovely little hotel in the middle of nowhere with my preteen son who was sick everywhere in the room. Front desk gave me cleaning supplies and offered to call the cleaning staff in early to help, but I said no. My child. My mess. Housekeeping did arrive early by chance and happily attacked the bathroom while I did the rest. I tipped VERY WELL.

I’ve actually had this happen and I felt HORRIBLE calling for clean sheets and towels in the middle of the night since I couldn’t leave my son alone. I was mortified that I was being such an inconvenience to the staff 🤦🏻♀️they were absolutely lovely tho and brought clean linens AND someone went to the pharmacy for me and got pepto, pedialyte and saltines for my son (before door dash and without being asked 😢) I was speechless at their kindness ❣️🫶🏼❣️

I've had this happen personally on a family trip. The front desktop was so nice bringing fresh sheets and blankets for us. The next morning they even brought up sprite and saltine crackers.

We all got gastro at an all inclusive resort (entirely their fault it later transpired - they had a massive issue and had to close). But we still managed (with a 2yo) to mitigate as much as possible and just needed lots of extra sheets and towels. It wasn’t fun though and my poor husband had to trek 20mjns each way to Aldi to get more nappies 🙈

The fact that so many people go to smaller hotels that are not like five star properties and expect there to be housekeeping and maintenance on duty 24/7. If you have a problem that involves you having made a mess, then expect that you need to clean it until morning when housekeeping does show up. If it’s a maintenance issue that prevents you from sleeping comfortably you’ll probably be moved to a new room, if the hotel is full they may bring in maintenance, but it would have to be critical.

when he was 2, my son pooped in the tub during bath time. it was after 8pm and I called the front desk to let them know so they could let housekeeping know in the morning.
15 minutes later there was a knock on the door. Front desk let maintenance know i was alone with a small child and they cane to immediately clean and sanitize the entire bathroom

I mean it would be more reasonable to be moved to a new room for the evening but not always possible. Plus pretty sure they should be charging additional cleaning fees so maybe they already are giving them some extra service by not charging that.

I have my mattress inside a moisture proof sleeve/barrier. Don’t hotels do the same?
