On August 23, 2025, Ruth Miller, a 40-year-old Amish mother from Holmes County, Ohio, threw her 4-year-old son Vincen Miller into Atwood Lake, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, killing him. Shocking bodycam footage captured Ruth telling officers "I gave him to God" moments after the drowning. Ruth's husband Marcus Miller, 45, was also found dead in the same lake the following morning, ruled accidental drowning. Ruth then attempted to drown her three surviving children, twin 18-year-old sons and a 15-year-old daughter, by driving them into the lake in a golf cart. All three escaped. Ruth Miller was charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, child endangerment, and domestic violence. She pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
