Disagree - to an extent. We have a member of our praise team who isn’t the best singer but girl has stage presence and heart and our congregation needs to see that. Therefore - she gets a mic. It’s all in how your sound guys do the mix so that they don’t throw it off in the moments their flaws could be seen. I think it depends on the group you have and how it works for the congregation.

Respectfully disagree. We have a gentleman on our team that doesn’t play guitar very “well”, but he feels so honored to be included. Worshippers are each given different measures of talent by the Lord and it is imperative that we MAKE ROOM for each other, regardless of that measure. When you only allow the 10’s on stage, you’re creating a performative band, not a worship team. I’ve lost count of the number of times the tangible presence of the Lord seemed to fill the room when the mid-level talents led the song vs the 10’s. The Lord is looking at the heart and as long as they have SOME level of musical gifting, let them bring their sacrifice! ❤️

Agree, it causes distraction and people get disconnect. I’m musician and I get distracted so easy from this things… can’t focus in the purpose

This has been my struggle these last few months. I'm new to the team but work on pitch, tone, vocal control & knowing the music like it's my life's mission! I don't want to be a distraction because I'm off pitch or unprepared. I almost quit last month because some of the other lead singers don't sound like they put in much effort to improve. I am still frustrated but as a volunteer, I bring it to God & pray He motivates the team to do better & set higher standards. 😔

I used to instruct my sound guys to never turn a person’s mic down but rather tell me if they thought someone sounded bad. It’s not their job to make that call.

Mostly agree but I also think there’s a chance and responsibility to encourage and build up people too. If they refuse to grow then it’s one thing, but some of the best worship team members I know weren’t great at first but were taught and loved well.

But also considered this, just because someone can sing/play well also doesn't always necessarily mean they should be on that stage too. Anyone can be a great player and a great singer but it takes heart to be a Worship Leader. If they're just there for the stage presence then they're there for the wrong reason

Very hard subject! There are so many outcomes ! I agree there are so many comments that I respectfully understand the opinions but worship is a everyday thing is not just the celebration with music, Music I a sacred art or talent people most commonly don’t understand the difference between worship and use music to worship this is a deep subject. There is a reason that very well known Christians singers use very high end performers that are at a higher level to performance and have a heart that recognizes God as the most high!

I think there’s different variables here. Some people are teachable and should be taught. The most anointed worshipers many times start out as bad singers but grow in their gift.
