You kinda jumped in really quickly there, not saying this would have deterred her from saying yes or no. But staying calm and starting with a “Hey is this ___?” and then once they’ve confirmed it’s them introduce yourself. She didn’t even get to know your name, say “hey it’s ___, i know a cold call is not on your to-do list for today but i wouldn’t be calling you if I didn’t have something that would benefit you. If you have just 15 seconds I’d love to tell you more about myself company and how i can help.” Normally 15-20 seconds is a pretty reasonable ask so they will most always say “okay sure what’s up” then move into your pitch, carefully explain it to them but don’t give them all the info off the bat. Leave enough info out that if they say no you can follow up with a “ah i see does the company you go through offer x,y,z?” asking open ended question to get them thinking and gets you another 10 seconds on the phone with them. Normally i push until they tell me no at least twice then i tell them to have a good day. But maybe this will help at least get you that extra minute of their time to get you closer to a yes! Remember we aren’t trying to convince them that they need what we have, we are trying to help them reach the decision on their own. That’s why people hate door knockers and cold callers cause they feel like we are trying to make the decision for them, we should only be helping them make their decision!

I’m not an expert, but if I received a call like that, I’d feel completely overwhelmed. Nobody normally talks that fast or packs that much information into one go. It doesn't come across as natural or relaxed; it feels a bit like you're inexperienced or trying too hard.

There’s no shortcut to experience. Love seeing the grind. You’ll figure out what works and how to get people to take a call. The trick is not sounding like a sales call… And this definitely sounds a bit like a sales call.
