Personal experience aside, there's literally peer reviewed scientific research showing that women make better doctors and surgeons than men - not only in "soft" skills like bedside manner and patient ratings, but (crucially) much lower mortality rates / much better patient outcomes.

After 40+ years of chronic illness (yes basically my whole life), gender matters but not as much as most people think. Doctors are for the most part self important assholes who won’t admit they don’t know something. A few female ones may be exceptions but they’re a minority in a sea of hateful assholes. Including a ton of the women.

I have endometriosis and have dealt with maybe like 6 different consultants that are male in the past like 10 years and had nothing but gaslighting and dismissal from every single one… there was one male consultant that cared because he is a specialist so I got to number 7 before I got taken seriously by a man. Seen over 15 female doctors in that time, only one dismissed and gaslit me.. are we seeing the difference 🤷🏻♀️
