@jas_blocker: Despite titling the interview “I don’t want your acceptance” #EJJohnson’s interview with #CarlosKing came off extremely performative. The unfortunate recurring theme appeared to be EJ overcompensating by putting others down. That said, the interview’s objective was not achieved despite being pretty straightforward: showcase the freedom and bravery of shirking societal expectations and living as your true self loud & proud. Unfortunately, the core messaging was diluted by curating a competitive edge by which EJ felt dominant and most comfortable over women. While EJ might be privileged enough to evade the consequences being so flippantly arrogant towards others, most of EJ’s community and most people in general cannot. At the end of the day the interview was divisive and I don’t think their objective was achieved but let me know what you think in the comments. **NO BIGOTRY OR HATE SPEECH WILL BE TOLERATED IN THE COMMENTS
There’s a difference between not needing a person’s acceptance and then being flat out disrespectful

I disagree with your first point. You should be concerned because it does have an effect on you. Maybe not directly , but it still does.

A lot of what you said were the conclusions you reached based upon what EJ said and not what was actually said. As a person who does not share EJ’s social identities, can you truly understand EJ’s lived experience?

But black women have been openly homophobic and transphobic for decades. Lets acknowledge this. Really also let's acknowledge that EJ said as well he didnt grow up in the black community. He grew up in a white one and with other privileged people who project the same feelings. He was addressing his identity and how no one could make him feel they couldn't wear a dress because felt they looked better than women. To me people took offense to this because they feel someone who identifies as Ej shouldn't feel that way about themselves when in fact everyone who speaks on systemic oppression preventing identity would say this. Black women say this about white women and anyone who tries to make them feel less. He is privileged and arrogant. We accept this in all celebrity kids. We have not seen many openly lgbtq black wealthy people present this confident. There's a lot of nuances here. The system of white supremacy, misogyny and homophobia, Transphobia. No one is unaffected.

He's in a serious competition with women, he's so jealous of a real woman that anytime he sees a man with a woman he desires that man.

Honestly, his constant need to put others down speaks more to his own low self-esteem and deep insecurity than anything else. There’s clearly an identity struggle there, and the dramatic claims about dating straight men feel less like truth and more like a calculated attempt to stay in the spotlight. At the end of the day, it all reads as attention-seeking a performance meant to provoke reactions. One can only hope he eventually finds the confidence to stop tearing others down and focus on finding peace within himself.

I find it sad that so many gay men are trying to “compete” with straight women, when straight women were our first allies and for alot of us, the only ones who accepted us in adolescence
