@drmindypelz: As we move through midlife, one of the most important neurotransmitters to pay attention to is GABA, your brain’s natural calming signal. GABA helps quiet an overactive nervous system, supports deep sleep, improves stress resilience, and helps your brain shift out of that constant “fight-or-flight” mode. The challenge is that as we age (and especially as hormones fluctuate) GABA activity can decline, leaving many women feeling more anxious, wired, or unable to wind down. The good news is you can support GABA naturally with simple daily practices. One of my favorites is 4-7-8 breathing, where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale slowly for 8. This simple practice signals safety to the nervous system and helps your brain activate more of those calming GABA pathways. Small habits like this can make a powerful difference in how your brain and body feel every day 🙏
