Imagine 14th-century Europe. Somewhere between France and England, one of the longest conflicts in history begins. It all began in 1337, when the English King Edward III declared himself king of France. The French throne was then taken by Philip VI of Valois. The French, to put it mildly, were not pleased. A war began that lasted for generations. During this time, armies fought dozens of battles, cities burned, and kings came and went. At one point, France almost lost... but then a girl named Joan of Arc appeared. She inspired the French army and helped turn the tide of the war. And in 1453, France finally drove the English out of almost all of its lands.
