ume-yu is a sento, a public bath, not an onsen so it's not a fancy place but I went there many times when I was in Kyoto I really recommend it! very cheap and very authentic

My friends and I went to Ume-yu when we were in Kyoto last summer. It was actually recommended to us by our Airbnb host because it was right around the corner. It is a bath house, not an onsen, but still very nice. It had showers, a sauna, ice cold bath, hot bath, hot bath with jets, a mango scented bath and an electric bath (electricity pulses through the water to relax muscles). All of that for 300¥ and no time limit. Highly recommend it! 💜

Visited Hinode-yu while in Kyoto. It’s an old style sento and a little tired looking. But the price was cheap and facilities were good. After a long day the electricity bath was so good on tired legs. I’m heavily tattooed and no bat an eye.
