@joesgarden: Today we are back and I am showing you how to make the most of any bouquets of roses you have been given, by turning them into your very own rose garden for free. Propagating plants, and making more for free is one of my favourite things to do in the garden, and now is the perfect time to start. You can propagate so many different types of plants, but one that I really enjoy is roses. The best part about propagating roses is it couldn’t be easier. All you need to do it take a stem from your roses and remove the flower. Then snip off the bottom, and all the way along this stem you will notice little leaf nodes. These look like tiny little growths usually just above a set of leaves. Just snip at a 45° angle just above this. Now I like to scrape the bottom and poke this end into a quality compost. It can take about a month for them to root and please don’t be a bit concerned if a few fail, that’s part of propagating. Once they have roots, you will notice your cuttings forming new shoots and then it’s time to plant them out. If I’m being honest I would recommend keeping them in small containers for at least the first year and then planting them out in year two, but you can skip this if you want. If this the absolute best way to plant roses, no probably not, but is it one of the most fun and rewarding, yes I believe so. As always thank you for watching, I love you all, Joe 😊🌱💚 #roses #propagation #gardening #zerowaste #gardentips

As a professional rose grower for 17 years and a florist for 7 yrs I can say that this is possible for certain bunches of roses. But the ‘roses’ that he is planting in the pots in this post are ‘grafted’ roses and not ones that are from bunches of supermarket roses😏

This used to work but I’ve not had any success for a few years now. I was wondering if they were being modified to stop them from being propagated

A storm caused major damage to my rose bushes so we had to cut them back. Rather than thro out all the cuttings we did an experiment and planted 6 of them. 2 survived and I have 2 free rose bushes! They survived the Winter and are growing!

how big does the pot need to be when you plant them out. I rent and there's no way I'm letting my landlord have a free rose bush 😂😂

Can anyone explain how roses can change colour over time? My grandma always had these white/pink roses but when she passed away they got really dark it was strange
