How can you build trust through patterns, if the person who walked or burnt out…wont meet in the middle, show any vulnerability, etc. etc. because at that point, the other person burns out from their effort even if it is genuine.

I clearly don’t know how to communicate well, that’s why I’m here. I’ve made real changes in my life, including therapy, to be able to be there more mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’ve honored her space. I waited 3.5 months before she opened up and we had our first real talk about the relationship. Two weeks later we had another, started by her. I’m continuing to give the space and wait for her to come to me but I fear that at some point that will start to look one sided to her. I don’t know what to do or say.

You get so many comments about “how long it takes” which is fascinating and I think a clear part of why it often doesn’t work. It’s like “hurry up and get better for me” instead of actually allowing repair in the time it takes

thank you I really needed to hear this I'm doing everything in my ability to work on myself and learn from my mistakes and take accountability for my own behaviour and going forward being more patient with my partner being consistent showing up and doing what I can to gain their trust thank you for opening my eyes

How would I go about it if I caused him to burn out? Being that he was the pursuer? He agreed after he said nothing would change his mind about being with me… to be a friend and start from 0 with no promises of it leading anywhere. If it does it does , if it doesn’t it doesn’t … what do I do then? Do I keep talking to him or ?
