@nickthrowsafit: Have you ever wondered what is the difference between the types of cotton you’ll find in your clothing? I created this shopping guide to cotton so you can tell the different types of cotton and what the label is actually referring to. While this isn’t 100% comprehensive, it will cover the vast majority of what you see out there. #fashionhistory #shopsmarter #naturalfiber #Sustainability #fyp
Not trying to be abrasive - but genuinely curious if this type of video is helpful. I almost never see this level of detail (beyond the 100% cotton” or maybe “organic cotton”) on clothes.

Why are my high-end ($) cotton shirts from Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers, of 20 years ago, breathable and comfortable in the Florida heat and humidity, whereas my new shirts, also 100% cotton from the same labels, are less comfortable even sort of scratchy? Has there been a basic change in the way cotton shirt fabric is manufactured? I know that wrinkle-resistant 100% cotton has been treated in some way. And for me, it’s like wearing polyester.

Land’s End pima cotton tees are totally not breathable and feel like polyester to me. And the tees I normally buy from them (not pima) have changed and now seem shiny and polyester-y to me. I wonder if it’s the finishing method? I don’t understand how they made 100% cotton feel so gross!

I am a 40 yr old woman going through perimenopause and no one will ever understand that when you hit this stage of life your identity becomes finding the perfect breathable cotton for sleepwear. it is insane the amount of companies using nonbreatheable fabrics.

Say someone wants to buy fabric that is 100% regeneratively farmed cotton- would a regular fabric store be able to supply that. Say Mood in NYC?
