Private lessons Having someone correct my mistakes in real time helped way more than studying alone. It also forced me to speak regularly. 3. Speaking imperfectly This was the biggest one. Progress started when I stopped waiting to speak “perfect” German and just started talking. 4. Consistency over intensity 20–30 minutes a day beats a 3-hour study session once a week. 5. Learning phrases, not just vocabulary Instead of memorizing random words, I focused on phrases I could actually use in daily conversations.
