@secondordermind: people learned a few therapy words and suddenly every awkward conversation became gaslighting, every selfish person became a narcissist, and every disagreement became trauma, and I really think there’s a difference between using psychological language to understand yourself and using it to label everyone around you because one is self-awareness and the other is just judgment dressed up as healing #therapyspeak #psychology #selfawareness #culturecommentary #MentalHealth
Yeah, narcissism is the least understood and most used concept in the world right now

I don't think a good therapist will use gaslighting either

This is why us professionals had to establish “the Goldwater rule” that way I discourages people from diagnosing people solely based on media appearances rather than actual clinical assessments by professionals

At this point I can accept it in comment sections as my expectations for finding decent conversation there is nonexistent. To get these things hurled at you by people you've known for a while in real life is the real stinger/the ultimate cop-out. My personal theory (anecdotal, unfunded, unresearched, open to critique etc) is that most people are more interested in healing than being healed. The idea of improving yourself is more appealing (and a lot easier) than taking on the responsibility of a grounded, balanced adult. So they "learn" these concepts while "healing", and prove time and time again they're not actually healed by throwing them around at random just to feel better about themselves (or support others without any base in reality).

Boundaries apparently are narcissism etc lol. Often those who are unaware of their on patterns jump on the therapy word speak

The overuse of "flow state" makes me NAUSEOUS. Now the meaning has been diluted into that of slight amusement or contentment. Such a cool term ruined by becoming slang
