@tradietalk: Boss almost makes his apprentice take his own life. This is one of many messages I’ve received like this. And this is a company many of you would know. They bullied him so severely … even after knowing how he was treated at his previous company. It led to severe depression and someone close to him fearing he would take his own life. Fortunately, this young tradie made it out the other side. He’s now a qualified tradesman, healthier and happier than ever. This behaviour needs to stop… 😡 before someone you know becomes a statistic. If you’ve experienced this or witnessed it, speak up. Drop a comment below. #apprenticetradie #tradieaustralia #builder
First year plumbing apprentice here. 25 an hour. Working 60 hours a week without penalty rate. No sick leave no paid holiday leave. Couldn’t get any other job because of the mature age.

I love doing trade work but I hate working with tradies especially my apprenticeship years. I hated every moment of it. I would just sit down before I put my shoes on and sigh for 30mins before heading off to the door and still sigh during my trip to work. I would sigh and just count down the hours till home time. the best feelings were finishing work, weekends and public holidays.

The worlds gone mad :
I hated every minute of being an apprentice. I was basically treated as cheap labor. I haven’t been in my tread for almost 20 yrs.

To anyone reading this, please try getting your apprenticeship directly with government building. You’ll learn a lot more and you’ll be looked after. I started mine with them and I’ve already been given over 6k worth of tools for free, free boots and uniform, a few goodies and a laptop. You’ll be their top priority if anything goes wrong

Tradie Talk :
To all the messages and comments asking who it is … I really wish I could say, but unfortunately it’s not my place. It’s exactly why we’ve built Tradie Talk though, a free platform so tradies can post reviews themselves and warn others about bad operators and clients.

sorry to hear. its not just the trades its every industry, i work in tier one civil construction and let me say the bullying and harassment is off the charts. one of the main reasons im a connector with "Mates in construction" everyone needs someone willing to listen.

I absolutely hated my apprenticeship. In my 2nd decade now. It is definitely a hard slog. Feels like it doesn’t get any easier. Chase the money and get draining responsibility and immense stress. I like being an architectural builder, it’s just really hard at some points. When I get sick of it I go away truck driving, that becomes boring and I always come back to carpentry. It’s not an easy trade at all
