There’s a museum in Sydney, it might be the Hyde park barracks, where they have women’s sanitary products on display that convicts (and free women) would’ve worn during that era. And it was basically just rags with string stitches at either end.

I do Middle Ages mostly, but I do wear split drawers… I find it likely that they used petticoats like panty liners… and other means when there was more happening. We also need to keep in mind that factors like health, food intake (starvation can really mess you up), and pregnancy can and do factor in to your cycle and how much flow there is…
