I also hate that there’s no paying it forward. Since the payment is linked to a specific license plate, even if you overestimate, the person after you doesn’t benefit. (And no chance for you to benefit from someone who left early).

And my local parking meters only start running at 8am and there’s no way to pay in advance. So when I’m parking at 7 and won’t be back until 1 I can’t use a meter at all!
