I relate to this so much. I’m quite an avoidant and instead of bringing up what bothered me. I keep it to myself let it pile up. Wait until something would trigger me and then I’d distance myself

I HATE conflict! But communication with understanding means avoiding anything or something that can ruin your relationship with people. :)) always communicate and always be firm with the boundaries you have.

exactly, when we avoid difficult conversations, we trade short term discomfort for long term dysfunction

Every body has a redflags we choose what we tolerate. We turn blind side for the sake of relationship and maybe we cant imagine the grief after loosing them. But, we change, overtime. Perspective shifts. Our conscience and awareness tapping us that something isn’t right deep down.

Communication is key but is the friendship really worth keeping if you’re generally unhappy, despite talking things out?

tolerating always turns into resentment. at first you call it patience then love but what it really is, is self-abandonment. every time you swallow a boundary, excuse a pattern, or silence your discomfort something inside you keeps score. eventually the bill comes due and you realize that all the compromises you made for others came at the cost of yourself. the quiet sacrifices, the gnored feelings, the moments you pretended everything was okay. they all add up until you can't ignore the weight anymore

Yall in the comments while you relate you’re missing the point. This is a BAD thing, and you need to reflect and fix this. It’ll harm both you and your relationships in the future

I used to tolerate because I was afraid of losing people, but I realized that relationships aren’t one sided and ppl should also be worried about losing me based on their actions. That helped me put things into perspective and I began to be more confrontational. It’s so worth it because at the end of the day you are able to work past issues and opens the door for more conversations on how to be better friends!

Toleration leads to resentment and resentment sits heavy in your gut bc its really self facing; its the result of you enduring at the expense of abandoning yourself and your boundaries
