That's why I love working with kids. Sounds a strange and wrong, I know. I don't have real friends however, a boyfriend or so even less, so usually I'm just alone. Those kids at work however? Most of them genuinely see you as a really good friend at school (or whatever facility) that has their back, and they have yours! The pure appreciation some of them have for what you do for them is just incredibly wholesome. And like much much more that I cannot write down. As someone who is really empathetic and emotional I often have watery eyes whenever the kids do or say something that just shows you how much worth that work has for the kids and YOU too, because working with and for kids IS super important on so many levels and it's not just the kids learning from you, but you learning from them so much as well. And that is much better than having friendships or relationships with people that don't appreciate you as much as those kids do, day for day.
