Items used in demonstration: acid, base, sour milk, orange, lime, fresh tomato and liquid soap. Keywords: Acid: This is a substance that tastes sour and turns blue litmus paper red. There are two types of acid-organic and inorganic. Examples of organic acids are: lemon, lime, fresh tomato, oranges(citric acid), vinegar(acetic acid), sour milk(lactic acid), proteins(amino acid), apple(malic acid) etc. Examples of inorganic acids are: HCl(Hydrochloric acid), H2SO4(Tetraoxo(vi)sulphuric acid), HNO3(trioxo(ix)acid etc. Base: This is a substance that tastes bitter and turns red litmus paper. Examples are NaOH(Sodium hydroxide), NH3(Ammonia).
