@jules_louise2: He was loosing so much weight because he refused to eat. I am so thankful he has gained 10 lbs and is eating now! I take him groceries in hopes he will eat. Please pray for my daddy. #fypシ #tiktok #dementiacare #growingold
My mom hasn’t been able to taste for a few years. It’s more of a texture thing now as to what she wants to eat. She was diagnosed with dementia in 2019 and I am her FT caregiver now.

My daddy said the food had no taste where he lived. Said it was inedible. He ate everything always

If you’re hungry, you’ll eat food, even if you can’t taste it.

I also put a smaller serving on their favorite plate. It maybe be visually overwhelming for them if the plate is unrecognizable to their mind

I think it’s pretty common. 2 of my grandparents and a dear friend had dementia. They both lost their taste. Usually sweets can be tasted. Give a brownie and see what he says.

They lose their sense of smell. When you serve them you can pretend to put salt or seasonings on their foods or just say let’s put a little salt for flavor, yumm I bet that’s better! My mother n law has dementia and I learn as I go ❤️and there is LOTS to learn 😩

I watch another TikToker. Her mom will tell her it taste funny, but she eats it all, but she says all the food that she eats taste funny when she sits down to eat.

I had a patient who would say he didn’t like something and it was nasty while smiling and shoveling it into his mouth 😂😂😂😂
