@hansosing: Duterte Case Reaches the Global Stage as It Is Raised at the UN Human Rights Council During the 61st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Japanese researcher Shunichi Fujiki delivered a statement during the official General Debate calling for the humanitarian release of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Fujiki spoke on behalf of the International Career Support Association, a civil society organization accredited to participate in UN Human Rights Council discussions. His intervention was delivered during the official session and is part of the UN Web TV archive. This means one thing: the Duterte case is no longer just a Philippine political issue. It is now being openly discussed in an international human rights forum. To be clear, Fujiki was not speaking for the Japanese government and the UN has not issued a resolution on the matter. But the fact that the issue was raised during a UN Human Rights Council debate shows that global civil society voices are paying attention. Whether critics like it or not, the conversation about justice, sovereignty, and due process in the Duterte case has reached the world stage. Facts matter. And this one is on the UN record. Thank you for speaking up in behalf of the millions of Filipinos who are fighting for our sovereignty and the cared for our FPRRD. #FREEDUTERTE #bringhomeprrd
