The Spanish Inquisition was actually the most just court ever, a lot better than the courts at the time. The courts gave retrials often, and execution was incredibly rare. The myth that this was somehow unjust or uncivilised come from the Spanish revolutionaries, which burned and raped nuns, executed priests and desecrated churches. This is historically untrue.
