I think about his headstone in a grave near my house dated around the late 1800s it says: Not gone from memory Not gone from love But gone to my heavenly Home above. I love how poignant it is in such a few lines. But when I think about it. Everyone that ever loved them is also gone from this earth. Every memory, unless passed down from generations, is left behind in the soil somewhere. People might think this dark or sad but wha is the reason you’re here? Is it to gain all of the earth? To be the most loved? Is it to have statues and monuments? Is it to live a good life? People think their lives need to amount to this huge thing, some big victory. But the greatest of all is that we’re here right now, able to do good things, instill hope, be encouraging, love one another. Our actions, words and face may not be remembered. But everything we do reverberates, the way we buildup others, the way we love ourselves, is how tomorrow looks back on us. We can see all the dark for what it is, and forget altogether that we bear the light. Go forward in today with the hope of making it better for yourself. You won’t carry anything else when you go. All I am chasing is a nice little home with a yard in a nice little community surrounded by nature with the ability to see my loved ones regularly while working at a job I enjoy and both my dogs together with me again.
