@geneslade: When the fan motor fails, your compressor is next in line for trouble. The fan’s job is to move air across the coil and carry heat away from the system. Without that airflow, heat builds up fast and the compressor starts overheating. Overheating leads to stress. Stress leads to damage. Damage leads to expensive repairs. What looks like a “small” fan issue can quickly turn into a major system failure if it’s ignored. It doesn’t cool the refrigerant or compressor either. It removes heat from the refrigerant to phase change it back to a liquid.

Doesn’t the cool the refrigerant then cool the compressor. Cools the refrigerant into a liquid then the evaporator blower heats the refrigerant. The superheated gas returning cools the compressor. 👌 glad we got that out the way 😂

Isn't it just to transfer the heat load off of the compressor and condenser coils by basically sucking in outside air and transferring through the condenser coils to lower the heat load

Technically still incorrect. Outdoor fan motor(heat pump in cooling) does not cool the refrigerant for the purpose of cooling the compressor. It subcools the refrigerant to change states from hot gas to subcooled liquid. Then metered by the expansion valve at the evaporator being superheated. The flooded charge controlled by the metering device superheated into a cool gas cools the compressor. Glad we got this out the way 😂

The primary function of a condenser fan is to sub cooling vapor refrigerant to liquid, not cool the compressor. 😁
