first code in ED as a resident was someone who went in for elective colonoscopy, perforated and coded. Minimal risk but those risks are always there.

As a 29 yr old who has had 6 colonoscopies (crohns disease) I always say procedure day is easy. it is the prep that sucks. 🤣😅

I feel like they should be more accessible now that colon cancer is becoming more common.

Had two colonoscopies and I’m 26. Never will I EVER be excited for one of those

My dad just passed of colon cancer and I’ve discussed my risks with my doctor. I don’t carry any greater risk as of right now yet my mom is constantly on me to get one because of her medical anxiety. I had to bring my mom to my appointment so she could hear it from the doctor who diagnosed my dad’s cancer that I wasn’t any great risk at this time.

The only downside of a colonoscopy is the taste of the prep. Then of course, if they find something. Otherwise, too easy.

What do you think about the new Shield test as an alternative to colonoscopies? (Blood test for colorectal cancer screening)

I was awake for mine because the anesthesia didn’t work. Luckily I had the funniest doctor on Earth

I had one recently at 36. Definitely was not excited, but my insurance covers it. I was having a lot of anxiety because my grandmother died from colon cancer at 43.

Colonoscopies are a piece of cake. The prep is horrible.

Clearly they’ve never drank the prep for a colonoscopy before…

I had one when they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me. It ended up being a gallbladder issue so the colonoscopy didn’t do much for me haha

I wouldn't say I was "excited" for either of my colonoscopies but I was ready to have answers to symptoms I'd been having. Last time the propofol hit so hard I didn't remember talking to my GI post-procedure 🤣 (and then took a 5 hour nap)

There’s a flashing billboard on the front of my local hospital that says “turning 45? Schedule your colonoscopy”… so is that overkill?

That’s such a weird job. They’ll book like 40 people and just do that for 6-8 hours straight.
