I have a theory: I think Adam and Riley are the Ilya and Shane of a parallel universe. Rachel planned to separate them this way—to marry Ilya to Svetlana and make Shane hit rock bottom and quit hockey. Instead, she didn’t do that and gave them a happy ending, and she brought that story to life in “The Shots You Take”.
