My kids brush, floss and mouthwash religiously and still get cavities and the dentists still talk to you like you’re at fault. Dont feel any mom guilt, its not anyone’s fault as long as you’re doing your best to prevent them

Well unfortunately all 4 of my children have had numerous cavities despite brushing flossing and using fluoride regularly and frequent dentist appointments 😭

I found out whether or not you get cavities is based a lot on genetics (like thin enamel) and only somewhat on dental hygiene. Yes, brushing and flossing matters, but that is more so for gum diseases. My husband has impeccable dental hygiene and has had a lot of cavities over the years. I have had less than great dental hygiene and haven't had a cavity at all in my 34 years of life.

My 7 year old just had 3 cavities, cost me $500. I said never again 😂 so now I floss his teeth every night. (He brushes great, just not flossing)

I am your husband and feel so bad that my oldest daughter who is 8 has already had 2 cavities 😭 we brush twice daily and they still happened. I take such good care of my teeth and they’re awful 😭😭

My daughter had her first cavity last year and I cried right there in the dentist office 😩 I didn’t have my 1st cavity until I was like 16 yrs old. And I am so particular about brushing. That’s the whole reason our bedtime routine takes so long 🥲 I asked them how it happened. My kids do not have a lot of sugar or anything “bad”. It’s from food sitting there…. We give them these small peanut butter cracker things and it just sits on their teeth after they eat. So from then on, I made damnnnn sure I picked out every bit of food from their teeth after eating. Even if we are out, they will pick it out of their own teeth now. Haven’t had a problem since!! And we also started flossing every single day!

I didn’t have any cavities my whole life until after I met my husband and then the dentist told me it was definitely from him I was sooo shocked and kinda salty hahaha. My daughter is 7 and her first cavity filled last week. She took that shot like a champ and me at 23 was scared as hell for my first shot in my gums! Haha so I definitely know what you’re going through!

My husband visit the dentist once every decade no kidding. The only thing he needs a cleaning 😳 I visit the dentist twice a year. I have cavities every time is awful. Now my daughter has my same issue

They can be genetic! I’ve never had a cavity and neither has my brother. Our parents I think have only had one or two in their lifetime. Sealants might be a good option to look into for your kids! :)
