I think people are fine to go to a wedding but weddings have gotten so out of hand and over the top that it ends up costing a fortune just to attend and especially to be in one.

We did exactly the same as you’re thinking - rented a huge cottage for the weekend, got married on the property with our closest friends & immediately family (25 people including us). Hired catering and a bartender - it was truly the best weekend of our lives with our most special people. No regrets! Definitely do it and ignore what opinions people have (trust me … they will have opinions 😅)

If you do an air bnb make sure they allow weddings. I looked into this and a lot of them do not or will charge extra to allow this
