@david_epstein: Brain first. AI second. An MIT study found that students who started essays with ChatGPT remembered less (almost nothing, really) and showed weaker reasoning. When they thought first and used AI second, though, their writing and recall improved. Use the tool to amplify your thinking, not replace it.
Great point and This is why I highly recommend for all educators and people leading or managing educators our latest book: Human-Driven Classrooms: A Practical Guide to AI in Education: Instruction, Policy, and Governance From K–12 Through Higher Education, Community Colleges, and Workforce Training

Is it just me or? I use ChatGPT to learn, not replace my own skill. I send it my writing and ask for book recommendations to develop me more. I ask it to read my work and analyze the hidden layer to come out. I feel like this makes me smarter. I don’t rely on it, and would sick if it stole my brainpower

This isn’t obvious? Asking AI to write a paper for you and then not remembering the paper you wrote nothing of seems odd???

This is a problem of attribution, when the human brain cannot find a way to attribute what they are learning to something they do in their life. They find no importance in doing it, it's for the same reason many students ask "what purpose does this serve in my life?" Even before they had access to chatGPT. Because the human mind naturally wants to conserve its energy for more productive things. It is a fault of the school system and it's undeveloped ways of supplying children with intriguing relatable data. Rather than allowing these children to explore things which can benefit their current situation or developing interest.

using it as a tool is what it SHOULD be used for, it should be an assistant or a stronger version of a Google search at best

Imagine, people that get somewhere by feet remember more details of their journey than those who used a train or a car to get there. That’s huge. You need a large team of scientists to get to this conclusion

If I use cruise control that's going to show less leg muscle movements while driving. If I drive for 20 minutes, my muscle mass is not going to be impacted at all because I didn't use my leg muscles during that time.
