our house was built before smart meters but they also put it on the outside of the garage wall! I was impressed and grateful.

Smart meters are like a 3g signal. Hardly EMF frequency. You get more exposure going through a toll booth or walking in an automatic door

Ask utility for a traditional analog meter. Pretty sure by law they’re required to accommodate that if asked. Might have to fight them about it but look it up
