I appreciate Ryan Couglar’s refusal to code switch so deeply. However, Ryan is an artist with more artistic freedom than someone like my mother who works holds a federal position. I hate the fact that we have to do it, but some of us have to code switch to protect our ability to produce income, and in extreme cases, survive.

spike let's films are great, but they always feel like an angry lecture at black people. Tyler Perry's films feel like the black community is being mocked and lampooned. Ryan cooglers films on the other hand make black people feel seen, valued, celebrated and embraced for who we are as we are.
