@fieldsolver: Here we use the shallow water model derived from the Navier-Stokes equations to simulate surface gravity wave turbulence. Seafloor level is kept constant (H=1), but fluid height and velocity are initially perturbed with random Fourier modes with k=1,..,4. The velocity field divergence quantifies the amount of compression, so it is ideal to highlight the appearance of wavefronts until they eventually dissipate due to viscous effects. The simulation domain is a 1x1 periodic square. Initial height fluctiations have a characteristic value of 0.15.Colormap is scale to the cubic root of div(u) to increase sharpness.
